Song Writing (Senior High)
Thursdays, 2/2 thru 2/23, 4:45-5:45pm
Anyone can write a song. All you need is a pen, paper, and an open mind. By exposing yourself to the creative process of songwriting you can get your mind in the right place. This program will focus on various elements of songwriting over the course of 4 weeks.
Students will learn:
-Several different techniques that can be used to get your thoughts and emotions into verse.
-Basic tools for writing.
-Confidence is king!
-Free writing.
-The sound, using music to express emotion in your song.
-Make or break a song with the Bridge (not intended to be used as a “pun” or a “play on words” here)
-Dumpster diving, re-working old or unfinished songs.
Students signing up for this program must have courage and a positive attitude (and willing to sing in front of other students in program). Students will be asked to share his/her voice by performing pieces that they have written. Students will also be asked to give feedback on other student’s work. Ability to play an instrument or beyond a beginner level is recommended, however, not required.
Out of respect to our volunteers, please be sure you can attend the programs you sign up for. If you need to cancel, 48 hours notice is required so those on our waiting lists can be notified.
